This past weekend we took a mini getaway to my husbands family south Texas ranch. It is a beautiful property that we love to explore. Our kids have become obsessed with the animals we see down there. This past weekend we saw a once in a life time animal…a mountain lion!!! They are pretty elusive and scamper quickly so we weren’t able to get a shot of it. Bummer, I know! We did see some lovely does and their fawns, javalina, feral hogs, green jays, coyote, bobcats and feral goats.
The land down there is covered in everything spikey and poisonous so we wear boots most of the time with long pants and sleeves. Most of the time it is pretty hot down there but we lucked out with a cold front so the weather was perfect. Don’t mind the dark circles under my eyes. the kids were up every morning at five because they were so excited to see the animals. Mom and dad were NOT as excited!
Here is a little south Texas outfit details:
Jacket: I am in love with this utility jacket. It is so versatile and pairs with a glitzy necklace, plaid blanket scarf or on a ranch extravaganza weekend! Let’s face it…I don’t own much camo so this covered me!
Boots: I scored these Hunters on an awesome sale Costco had a few weeks back. It has been so wet in Texas and I have already worn them six times in two weeks. I paired them with these ruffle boot socks to make them a little cuter on the ranch.
Shirt: My mother in law loves this shirt and thinks it should be our new family moto! I couldn’t agree with her more. The men can have their bucks and ducks and we can have…DIAMONDS!!! Its got a bit of camo, a bit of bling and adds a little bit of fashion to the outdoors. We were able to sneak up on the deer and some javalina and I’m pretty sure it was because they loved this shirt and wanted a closer look!!!
Jeans: These jeans are a favorite brand of mine. They are comfy, dark denim and soft. What more could you ask for in a pair of skinnies?
